Re: Intersections with a 2D ellipse

It is not possible with the existing operations in CMM-M but you can write a VB script that will measure the intersection points if you have some extra time to spend writing the program. I've attached an example program that measures an ellipse, then measures 2 points and constructs a line between t...

Re: Cant get TOUCH PROBE SCAN - AREA to work correctly

What kind of information are you seeking? Do you want the shape of this curved tube for reverse engineering or are you just looking for radius? If its just the bend radius you're looking for, there may be a simpler work-around to getting that information.

Iterative Alignment

The Datum Alignment tool performs part alignment by a limited number of iterative measurements of specified datum points. This tool ensures the repeatability and accuracy of alignment of various parts with the machine, which usually can be achieved only by using high precision hard fixtures. Before ...

Free Position Alignment Tutorial Video

The purpose of a Free Position Alignment is to create a DCC Measurement Program that requires no manual features to be measured at the beginning of each run. The part can be placed anywhere in the machine volume in an approximate orientation and the program will start to run in DCC immediately. qtFF...

Re: Start without touching off manually?

Yes, you can save and recall reference frames for use when the part is always in the same location (held by a fixture), then follow with a DCC alignment.

Re: Best way to get a surface profile

Sure we are all here to learn! I attached a project file with the steps I am describing. Say you want to report in two different ref frames, Ref Frame 1 and Ref Frame 2, this is what the steps of your program should look like: Perform your initial Alignment (3-2-1...etc) Save Ref Frame 1 Measure the...

You can set up your alignment with the datums before you report the surface profile.

Re: Is there a way to code in exact points? (for alignment)

Yes, you must perform an initial alignment with any of the available alignment options to set up the initial reference frame. ***edit: Sorry, I meant No, the datum points will not be added as features for reporting. You can remeasure them after the Alignment if you would like to include them in your...
