Tip qual. requirement in non-touch commands

For program edits made online, would it be possible to have CMM-M differentiate between those commands that require no touch tip and those that do? (1) Unless the CMM is disconnected from the PC, the correct probe has to be in play when editing a Report command. (2) If a probe angle has no function ...

Pick & Define

Every so often, when using the Pick & Define feature from the Construct Features group, I get a message that CMM-M cannot tell what kind of feature I picked. It gives me a choice. The choice list doesn't vary depending on the surface. In a moment of wishful thinking, I once clicked on "plane" when t...

Re: DDE running processes

We eventually learned to use the Customer Data area of the report to put the lot no, etc. on the report form. Nobody has to make manual entries directly to the sheets, now. Another thing we noticed was how changes in the company network required us to re-enter the permissions and the Excel security/...

Keying-in a cone

Sometimes it's helpful to assist a learn-mode program by making/placing CAD features. It's much easier to measure the model of a cylinder or a cone at the nominal location than to measure the feature by hand and then change all the nominals. One thing that's difficult to make is a cone. Drawings usu...

Re: DDE running processes

One thing we noticed early - if somebody makes a manual change to the content of the datasheet, they need to hit save before the program runs a DDE command. Not saving immediately prevents CMM-M from writing to the sheet.

Re: DDE running processes

windows 7 x64, CMM-M 3.4 sp1, MS Excel 2010. We access files on the local machine, at network addresses and at network locations mapped on the local computer, depending on the permanency of the project. We successfully call up .xlsx and .xls files from Excel 2003 to 2010, sometimes in compatibility ...

DDE running processes

We have been using DDE to export our data onto Excel forms for a few years, now. One thing that happens (and we never bothered to ask about it) is that in Win7 Task Manager, there will be multiple Excel processes running after few programs, even if we close the datasheets as we go. These processes p...

Customize feature number sequence

Is it possible to have the feature names start at a particular number besides circle1, plane1, etc? Can the automatic numbering be customized? Suppose I wanted to start at "circle 15?" In the past, I just keyed-in a bunch of phantom features until I got to the number I wanted - and then hid them. Th...
