Quick question

Post by lcray30 » Thu Oct 04, 2018 7:35 am

I have finally been able to sit down and try and work through this gear package. One question that my bosses have asked me about this package. If we were to receive a busted up gear from a customer and we know no information about the gear except for probably number of teeth will this software fill in the blanks for me after I measure the gear.

For example the items according to the tutorial I am supposed to fill out in this window when I first start it up.

Sorry for the delay. The forum is still well in use. The gear module will not fill in the blanks. You do need to have this information for the software to measure the gear properly.

I worked with a customer quite some time ago... nearly 10 years??? This customer used CMM-Manager Gear Module to measure gear but did not have all parameters for gear available. He was able to guess at some of the parameters (at least close enough to do measurement) then exported the raw point file to some software that automatically determined the missing parameters - i.e. Normal Module, Pressure Angle, etc.

I would do a Google search for "Gear Reverse Engineer"... maybe you will find something useful.
